Not optimised for them. Built for them, from the first line, at the same time as it was built for the person holding the phone.
A machine arriving at a trade website is trying to answer one question on somebody's behalf. Do you cover this postcode. Are you open. What do you charge to come out. Are you registered. It has seconds, and it does not guess.
On most sites those four answers are in a picture, a PDF, a header graphic, and a paragraph that says "competitive rates". So it cannot answer, and it names somebody else.
Your opening hours are not a sentence in a block of text. They are a stored fact with a stable identifier, so a machine can quote them and link to the exact line it read.
A plain text summary and a registry at a known address, published the minute your site goes live, so a machine does not have to work out what your site is.
Your site takes a question and answers it from your own facts. If the question is outside what you have told us, it says so and hands the person to your mailbox rather than inventing something.
Every machine that reads your site is recorded, on your own workspace. Not an estimate from somebody else's panel. Your own record of who asked and what they took.
This is the part that sounds backwards and matters most. If somebody asks your site something you never told it, it will not have a go.
Try it on this page. This site runs the same layer your site would, over facts about itself. Ask it something it knows and it answers with a citation. Ask it anything else and it says so.
A website that answers confidently and wrongly costs you the job and then the review. One that says "I do not know, here is a person" costs you nothing and gets you an enquiry.
Every page is put together on the request from your answers, a bank of sentences written by a person, and the clock. Rules and stored facts. Nothing is generated, so nothing can drift, and the same inputs give the same page every time. That is tested rather than promised.
Which is the part worth sitting with: the website that machines can actually read is the one with no machine writing it.
